About the Film

A vérité-style documentary following 16 diverse, ambitious high school seniors as they navigate the absurdity, crisis moments and emotional toll of elite college admissions. Woven throughout the documentary are interviews with acclaimed authors, admissions officers, and parents.

Synopsis

This documentary takes audiences deep inside the chaotic, high-stakes world of college admissions by chronicling 16 high school seniors across the U.S. and abroad. From the moment they begin their college applications in August to decision day in May, the documentary captures every twist, from parental tension and peer competition to midnight breakdowns and moments of joy or despair.

Intercut with interviews from former admissions officers, education experts, and cultural critics, the film confronts the classism, opacity, and emotional cost embedded in the current system. This four-quadrant documentary challenges institutions while comforting the very students and families it depicts.
